Exploding Monkey
What we do

Whatever you want us to do - is the short answer.

Technology and design should enable, not constrain, the work we do for our clients. We always try and use the right tools for the job rather than trying to fit the job to the tools.

This means that our tool box is pretty big (in fact we have had to buy a couple of smaller toolboxes) and the range of technologies we can use is pretty broad.

The best way of getting a sense of what it is we actually do is by looking at our work. There you will find websites, email campaigns, corporate presentations, USB keys, 3 meter high LED advertising screens, big band show tunes (OK, only joking about the big band show tunes).

How we do it

Working with us will involve lots of contact throughout the entire process.

We want your feedback at each step of the way, and only when we know you are happy with the work we’ve done will we dust our hands off and sit back smiling smugly.

We use an online project management system that enables good communication, provides a discussion forum (for projects with large numbers of stakeholders) and a way of keeping track of design and technology sign-offs and deadlines. That way, everybody’s in the loop and everyone knows what’s happening.

A couple of years at Digital Arts and a spell at RD2 Media was all I needed to convince me that I would be better off starting my own agency. 5 years on and it still feels like a pretty good idea.

My background is in internet development technologies (PHP, Flash, Director etc) and I still get childishly excited when someone makes computers do new and interesting things.

When not working, I like to take my son mushroom hunting in sunny Kent.

After graduating from the University of Greenwich with a BA in Multimedia Technology, I took my first role as Technical Consultant at Agency.com, at the time the worlds largest online agency. During my stint there I was at the forefront of developing new and exciting marketing technologies, many of which have now become commonplace.

Tired of the corporate culture of the larger company, I decided to jumped ship from Agency.com after 3 years service and form Exploding Monkey - a smaller, more exciting, more flexible agency. Today, we have a client list and portfolio that would be the envy of any company.

After a week living and breathing frontend technologies, I like to spend my weekends camping in the rain.
